Behind the Scenes: A Day in the Life of a Boudoir Photoshoot

Hey! So you’ve thought about doing a boudoir photoshoot and you’re wondering what a day in the Boudoir by Kati Lynn studio is like! I have established a flawless routine that helps each woman feel comfortable, safe, and private but also calms nerves, feels excited, and on top of the world both during and after their photoshoot.

You will typically arrive at my studio at 9am or 10am during the week and limited weekend dates. We chat for a few minutes and then immediately start in hair & makeup. I want you to be as comfortable with your makeup as possible so I’ll ask you how glammed up you want to be and then we discuss colors. Do you love a smokey eye and a wing, or are do you want to be more refined and natural? Are you down with a red lip? Or do you want to do pink or browns? This part is fun and I love when you bring a photo for inspiration. Lashes are always included and add a little flirtiness to your images. After makeup, I’ll curl your hair and we’ll be done with that part! During this time, we’re always chatting and getting to know each other much better which will help alleviate any nerves you have before the photoshoot portion of your session.

Hair & Makeup Station

After hair & makeup, we’ll move onto wardrobe. We’ll take a look at the client closet and whatever you’ve brought. You don’t have to bring anything but I love when you bring something that represents your personality or something special of your significant other’s. As far as lingerie, robes, and accessories, I got you! I have some incredible pieces. We typically pick out 3-4 outfits and we’ll add in a sheet or blanket during your implied nudity set (if you’re comfortable with that!)

Next, you’ll get your first outfit on while I light all of the studio candles and we’ll start the celebrity-style photoshoot!

I take full control and pose you from head-to-toe, taking out all of the guesswork on what to do with your hands, face, and even hair. This part is so much fun. We’re usually joking, laughing, maybe even singing to our favorite songs playing on the studio speaker.

My studio is unique in that immediately after your session, we’ll sit down and you’ll view your images the same day! You’ll get to pick out your favorites, purchase from our Collections or A La Carte menus, and then pick out the finishing touches to your products.

After that, we’ll take a selfie, you’ll sign my client board, and we’ll get a farewell hug before saying our ‘goodbyes.’

It’s truly an incredible day for both of us.

We’ll sit down and look at your images together. You’ll be able to check out the samples we have as well.
